Reasons for @Chrisgroove1′s Chip-In

Blind kitteh @Chrisgroove1

Blind kitteh @Chrisgroove1′s (human) mom Roxann has desperately been trying to get employment in San Antonio, Texas, and she’s finally landed a few hours a week, in a retail job. Unfortunately it’s literally only a few hours work and barely pays the bus fares and definitely not enough to live on!

Shockingly, Roxann’s employment benefits have finished and she’s not eligible for further benefits because when they finished, she was working less than 40 hours per week (meaning: her new retail job of literally only a few hours a week.).

EMPLOYMENT

Serenity

She did everything in her power to get a full time job; she applied to countless jobs and couldn’t even get called for interviews because where she lives, unemployment is so high that just getting an interview is next to impossible.

Can you offer Roxann employment? She is very good at retail, well presented and a slim, attractive woman with a beautiful smile. If you have, or know of available employment, please let me know and I will pass the information to her. This is a genuine plea!

A small group of us have set up a Chip-In for @Chrisgroove1 and his mom, Roxann. Please do not feel pressured, but if you are able to donate anything toward Chris and his mom, it would be sincerely appreciated. No donation is too small!

IMPORTANT FACT:

Peaceful beauty

Roxann did NOT ask for the Chip-In to be set-up or for this article to be written; in fact she has a history of shying away from help and pretending everything is just fine, when infact things couldn’t be worse. If you have an issue with this, please speak with me, @PepiSmartDog, by leaving me a comment below and I will do my best to respond to each comment.

Note: Roxann is under tremendous strain at the moment and I ask pals NOT to negatively pressure her, as everything is already very fragile. She needs hope for her future, so if you have questions, ask me.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Roxann’s story is heroic and sad. She nursed her dying mother and in doing so lost her own long standing job when the company she worked for closed down days after her mother’s death, due to the economic downturn. She was left with medical bills, a broken down house, a blind cat and no job. She does not own a car; she can’t afford one. There is no boyfriend or husband or father and she is an only child, so there are no family members to turn to.

Potential pet beds Roxann could make to sell

A small group of amazing pals on Twitter (known as the ‘Cheerleaders’), have been helping Roxann out a little, buying Chris his kitteh food and kitty litter, as well as helping Roxann with food parcels now and then.

I am well aware of the ruckus about asking pals to help when one pal falls into a financial or emotional ditch, but quite frankly sometimes we just have to ask for help! This is one of those times.

POLL QUESTION:

IF’ Roxann made good quality pet beds, would you be interested in buying one or more of her beds?

She’s a talented sewer but unsure if anyone would buy her pet beds, if she actually made them. Please leave a response in the comments if you would be interested in Roxann’s pet beds. We are exploring all avenues of income for Roxann, as her circumstances become critical.      Click here for Chip-In.

How To Wear Pants !

@CokieTheCat modelling his jeans

Been a lot of talk lately about wearing pants. After doing an 80 foot face-dive from a tall palm tree in Hollywood, CA, @CokieTheCat has become the universal pants spokesman. He made incontinence cool when he proved chicks dig cats in jeans!

@PepiSmartDog in his Hawaiian board shorts

Purely for the couture, I loved wearing pants, especially my Hawaiian board shorts along with my red singlet. Cowabunga!

There’s always one egg in a group that has too much ‘nip’ and misunderstands the purpose of pants. Is this @BadAndy-KityKat hiding under those pants ? BOL !

The 'nip' made him do it!

Late to press: the REAL @BadAndy_KityKat ! BOL !

THANKFUL THURSDAY

Amigo @PepiSmartDog

Thankfully I read Cokie’s blog and saw @Kittehboi’s #Chillipawty is this weekend, or I might have missed the pawty. I’m not American or Mexican so I don’t celebrate Cinco de Mayo, but I sure do enjoy dressing up in glittering #Mansequins and giant hats!

#Mansequins galore: @PepiSmartDog

Thankful mum got motivated this week and revamped my entire website. By the time it’s completed, each different blog will have a new look. She’s even worked out how to hook up RSS feeds for ‘most’ of the blogs (well, all except the 2 most important ones!) She’s still working on completing that. *rolls eyes*

I’m thankful to announce I have some new blogs on this website; my most important new one: Help Expose Animal Cruelty. Mum and I will be posting things we’ve seen during our many trips abroad, and ways you can help be a voice for those silenced thru cruelty, such as signing petitions (which we will have available.)

Amigos @PepiSmartDog & @PuzTheCat

It’s a tough subject, but we are trying to raise awareness, especially for anyone who travels as a tourist, to ‘see’ what they are looking at and not just turn away and forget abut it. We are also writing a serious book on this subject, which we hope to have completed by the end of the year.

Kangaroo Rescues

Our dear Alpha male Kangaroo

Our Alpha male Kangaroo stands almost 7 foot tall, is incredibly powerful and a wild animal who has never handled by people. But on Wednesday mum got the call our favourite ‘Big Guy’, the BIG Alpha male had a possible fractured hind foot.

Because this male Roo was so big and powerful, it was too dangerous for anyone to attempt overpowering him, even with a team of people. This was a major problem because none of the local vet’s had access to a Dart Gun, so no-one could examine the Roo. Thursday morning mum remembered Dreamworld Theme Parks have White Tigers, so they would have to have a Dart Gun.

Dreamworld Veterinarian’s answered our distress call and arrived within the hour, bringing their big Dart Gun. Once sedated, the vets gave our dear Alpha a thorough examination before making any decisions. Without Dreamworld’s Vets our dear Alpha Roo could not have been helped.

The very next day, we got another call that a young female Roo was down, with a broken leg. Mum and I were saddened to see her laying on the ground, with a severe leg injury. We contacted Wildcare Australia, who dispatched a Trauma Team. Mum helped overpower the female Roo, and held her until she was sedated.

Being involved in animal rescue doesn’t always give happy endings, but knowing an animal is at peace makes everything worthwhile. Both Kangaroos are featured in my Tribute Video to them: Kangaroo Rescues.

Apple the Skateboarding Cat

Fur-sib Apple the 25LB skateboarding cat

Meet ‘Apple’ the 25LB+  skateboarding CAT. Move over Tillman and make some room on your skateboard for Apple. The little skateboard  Apple’s riding belongs to fur-sib @TeddyRupert, so I’m sure Apple would prefer to push Tillman into the grass and steal his board. BOL !

Come on, Apple’s a giant cat who loves dogs. Can’t you picture it now? Apple and Tillman riding on the same skateboard, flying down the road together? *feeling warm and fuzzy all over*

Apple was happy to wear my Hawaiian board shorts, but they were too small to do up around his waist. And he refused to wear Suck=It-In Shapewear. Maybe Tillman’s got some spare shorts Apple could fit into?

Happy Easter from Apple

If Tillman has a formal skateboarding appointment, Apple’s happy to wear my Dinner Suit. Let’s face it, you never know when when you have a formal skateboarding engagement. BOL !

To get in the festive spirit,  Apple attempted to make a Happy Holidays picture for everyone, but it didn’t go so well. *rolls eyes* He said if anyone laughs at him, he’ll eat everything in their pantry.

Most Difficult Book I’ll Ever Write

@PepiSmartDog

I’m a pretty tough guy who can handle almost anything. *flexes all four legs to show bulging muscles*  For the first time on my website, mum is going to help me out and tell you about our latest project. I introduce you all to: ‘Her‘, also known as ‘She.’

HER: Hello to Pepi’s readers. Yes I’m Pepi’s human mum and this is my debut on his website. Thank you Pepi for the opportunity to share this article with you. *gives him a pat*

Pepi: When you learn something and you see it, and it’s in your face and you know it is real, you cannot just unlearn it, turn and look the other way and pretend it doesn’t exist. If I had the choice, I would turn away and not face what I am tackling because it is too scary and overwhelming. But in this scenario I am the lucky one, who should not complain. :=o(

@TeddyRupert at Angkor Wat in Cambodia, wearing his 'See the World' backpack.

We are just back from Cambodia and Vietnam, which I shall write about in different articles. My little brofur ‘Travel Bear ‘Teddy Rupert accompanied mum and myself; (seeing as I am already over the Rainbow Bridge, I rode shotgun on mums plane.) Teddy Rupert did all the fun stuff, which we really needed cause there sure was a lot of sad stuff to deal with. *sigh*

HER:  Pepi and I are writing a book about animals in critical need, such as pet dogs stolen for the huge dog meat trade throughout Asia. Over the years we have travelled through more than 60 countries, but what we saw in Vietnam was particularly bad.

Stop Eating Dogs and Cats !

Pepi: *hangs head*

HER: In Vietnam we witnessed unspeakable acts of cruelty, not only to dogs, but against all animals, including cats, pigs, cows, birds and so on. After spending several hours crying in one day, Pepi and I realised the only thing we can do is write their story to bring awareness to tourists, and give the little pals a voice ! So we documented, photographed and videoed as much as possible.

Arriving back home we’ve been researching the subject daily and are staggered at what we’re uncovering. We have interviews lined up with tourists whose vacation’s were altered when confronted with what is considered ‘normal’ animal conditions in Asia. We also speak with the important people who are in the front line of fighting this animal cruelty.

Pitiful dogs, already sold for meat; their fate is sealed

Pepi: Our book will not stop the cruelty and it may not make any difference at all, but we hope to raise awareness of tourists. We pray one day the right person will say “I’m going to stay and fight these traditions until they are changed.”

HER: On a good note: Hong Kong STOPPED eating dog meat years ago and it now considers it  a shameful practice. Hong Kong has  anti-dogmeat billboards placed all around the city, proving it is possible for a country to change long held traditions.

Pepi: This is the ray of hope I hold onto, regarding animal atrocities in Asia. Thanks for helping mum. :=o)

Pet Court Series #1: Animal Hoarders Or Rescue Shelter?

@PepiSmartDog Pet Court Judge

Just like Judge Judy, but with fur, Pet Court is a new series of articles looking at controversial pet subjects, covering a different topic each time. Series #1 looks at ‘When does an animal rescue shelter cross the line and become animal hoarding?’

Animal Shelters worldwide save homeless and often traumatised pets, giving them a second chance at finding a new forever family who will love them for the rest of their days.

Inside Yokohama Dog Rescue, Japan

My own life was saved by the Animal Welfare League Qld, when my elderly family had to move to a nursing home and I wasn’t allowed to go. I was already a 12 year old Golden Oldie when this happened to me. Good animal shelters have lots of staff and every animal receives care, food, medical attention and they are exercised, to keep their body and mind healthy.

Ethically, dose a disaster like the earthquake/tsunami in Japan mean it’s OK to forget guidelines for shelters? Does a disaster make it alright to keep dogs in little cages for close to a year? (referred to as ‘warehousing.’)

Inside Yokohama Dog Rescue, Japan

But what about if the dogs are not in tiny cages, but crammed into rooms, en masse? Dogs are pack animals – one dog will be the pack leader and many others will be vying for that top spot. Who will regulate the fights? Not to mention the injuries resulting from the on-going heirachy fights?

Animal hoarding usually starts off with people who care about abandoned pets and ‘rescue’ them, providing them ‘shelter.’ However, as time goes on they compulsively keep adding animals to their ‘shelter’. Dogs are usually hoarded by men and cats hoarded by women.

Terrified dog being manhandled at Yokohama Dog Rescue

Hoarders turn a blind eye to the squalor and pitiful state of their animals. They firmly believe the animals will suffer if not with them, even though the animals are already suffering, due to the lack of quality of care.

They often see themselves as animal saviours, or Saints. Some hoarders will publicly attack anyone who questions their intentions. Animals belonging to hoarders need help!

They are usually not being fed adequently, while being forced to live in a very stressful enviroment. Because of the lack of hygiene, hoarder’s animals are suseptible to many diseases, sometimes resulting in death.

Inside Yokohama Dog Rescue, Japan

Although animal hoarders often start off with good intentions, by the time they are discovered, it is the animals who pay the terrible price of ongoing suffering.

Please note: I will be in Cambodia and Vietnam until March 10th, investigating the animal situation in those countries. Can’t wait to share what I find with you, after I get back. It better be good or I’ll have to put the bitey on them! *practices pulling the stink eye face*

Love Is In The Air

My fur-sib sisfurs: Suki & Tahni (notice Apple is not in the piccie. BOL !)

Ahhahahahaha *clears throat* (sings) Love is in the air *spins around* everywhere I look around *spins around* Love is in the air, every time I chew my bone *drops to one front knee* And i don’t know if I’m deluded, or if it’s the gravy sauce *points paw* But love is in the air…

@pepiSmartDog Cupid and Tinkerbell

How can anyone have Valentines Day without fury Cupid ? *strikes a pose with bow and arrow*

Love in Action; all my Twitter pals riding in @Henryandfriends Truck when i went OTRB. Wonderful picture by @GeorgeTheDuck

And I cannot write about love without including one of my favourite all time piccies (below), made by @GeorgeTheDuck.

George made this when all my Twitter pal buddies boarded @Henryandfriends truck and over 24 hours, everyone rode to the Rainbow Bridge entrance and waved to me as I crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.

It is something mum will never ever forget; everyone’s love made all the difference in the world.
