Welcome to our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. We hope you had a good week with a few smiles along the way. We are thankful we got to sit and watch some little baby kangaroo joey’s have a little hop around before diving head first back into their mum’s pouch.
Baby joeys don’t stay out of the pouch for long so seeing them zoom around and jumping high into the air is a real treat. Because they are so young they don’t have full coordination of their legs and sometimes they go extra fast or extra high, and give themselves a shock. Very cute. [Joeys live in mum’s pouch for a year and then stay next to her for another year = 2 years with mum.] Here’s our Joey’s 30 second video:
We were thankful that on Saturday mum (Michele) was called to rescue the vicious Great Dane which killed our kangaroo a week ago. The dog was reported when seen running around the streets, terrorizing the neighborhood. It was mum’s first time laying eyes on the dog and when she saw it, her heart melted because the dog was starving and a walking skeleton. She “rescued” the dog and took him to the the pound, where he was fed and kept in dog-jail on a Do Not Release City Council Order. This means he cannot go home to that address.
Unfortunately the owners turned up yesterday with a fake new-address and the dog-pound workers were tricked and released the dog back to them. Of course the owners took it back to the usual address and let him go for a run on the streets again! We were not thankful about this and neither was the City Council. These owners have a lot to answer for! They are not Australians but they do come from a near-by country where many people have loved pets, so its not like they don’t know any better. *GRRRR*
This is an ongoing situation so I’ll keep you posted. Next time he is impounded it will cost them $539.00 to get him out. On this rare occasion the pound is the best place for this dog because at least he will be fed. The RSPCA are also looking into why he is suffering malnutrition. So we are now fighting to help the dog, who has been betrayed by his humans. What a mess.
Sending a thank you to the girls at Zoolatry for all they do for pals everywhere and wishing them a Happy 8 Years Blogging Day (month of June actually.) Check out their Wordy Wednesday post for a “look back” to 2008.
We have posted in a few blog hops since last Thursday and we hope to make new friends and maybe some of them will join us here on in future Thankful Thursday Blog Hops. Please know each week I am so thankful to each of you who support our hop. Without your posts we wouldn’t have a hop.
What are you thankful for this week? Please join in and share your week with us. Later tonight I’ll be stopping by each website of pals who joined us last week, so look for me in your comments. I highly recommend visiting different pal’s sites. It will bring a smile to your face for sure. Hope to see you back here next week. *waves paw* :=o)
