Welcome to our Sunday Selfie: Baby Rainbow Lorikeet. This baby is healthy and in good shape, but he was blown out of his nest and is just a bit too young to be able to fly. We rescued him and delivered him to the Emergency Wildlife Hospital, who have placed him with a specialized carer.
In a few months the Wildlife Hospital will phone us and we will collect this baby and re-release him back into the wild, where his family will be waiting for him.
Rainbow Lorikeets are a colorful medium sized parrot who forage on flowers of shrubs or trees, to harvest nectar and pollen, but they also eats fruits, seeds and some insects. They live up to 30 years old and grow to around 15 inches long.
Rainbow Lorikeets are very lively and have big bubbly personalities, with a matching loud voice. They are very intelligent and are constantly busy. They thrive in large groups and can be very excitable.
Hope you enjoyed our baby Rainbow Lorikeet selfies and we look forward to you visiting us again. Don’t forget to join our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop, which stays open all week. *waves paw* :=o)
