Welcome to our Sunday Selfie project. We spent today in Penang, Malaysia where we spent time with one of Malaysia’s very few dog rescue shelters. NOTE: make sure you join us next week because in a couple of days we are going to the Elephant Orphanage in Sri Lanka!
Life is very hard for street dogs in Malaysia because many local people see dogs as unclean and refuse to even touch their fur. So re-homing dogs to safe homes is very difficult.
Thank goodness for the small number of dog lovers in Malaysia such as Penang Hope Of Strays, who rescue injured and starving dogs, and litters of puppies. Without these good people, goodness knows what would happen to Malaysian dogs.
The natural love this little Malay boy has for dogs is truly heartwarming and we hope he can go on to one day become an animal rescuer and part of the movement toward accepting dogs in Malaysia.
NOTE: in a few days we are going to an Elephant Orphanage in Sri Lanka, with 88 elephants! Make sure you visit us next week to see our elephant photos, which we are very excited about. (Thankfully we have people staying in our house to look after my fur-sibs.)
Please check out our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop; its open all week every week. Thanks for stopping by and we look forward to you coming back again. *waves paw* :=o)
