Welcome back to Thankful Thursday weekly blog hop. This is the place to share your “good stuff,” make new friends and read all about them.
I’m thankful to a man named Micheal because for the last six days we’ve been desperately trying to help a severely injured Kangaroo; but nothing went according to plan.
After the first report came in on Friday morning, we couldn’t locate him, even after hours of searching. Australian native animals camouflage and become almost impossible to detect.
Next day we searched for more hours, but could not locate him. We felt awful.
Sunday late afternoon, another report came in and thankfully we found him but nightfall was coming and we couldn’t get anyone to help in the dark. He’d been hit by a car and had a broken pelvis, which is catastrophic for a kangaroo.
Monday: we were put in-touch with Michael, who lives two hours away but went on stand-by, with a dart-gun (thank goodness) to knock the roo unconscious, to examine him.Because Micheal was already on another case hours away, we lost light and had to wait another day
Tuesday morning: Micheal was on his way when a stupid lady illegally let both her Husky dogs on the golf course and they chased the critically injured roo with a broken pelvis! We went ballistic at the lady and it was 5pm before we found the roo again.
Wednesday morning, we searched and found the roo down the bottom of a densely covered gully. We sat with the roo and waited until Micheal arrived and we euthanised the poor roo. Although we were very sad, it was an enormous relief and we were thankful he was no longer suffering.
Mum (Michele) and I are front line rescuers and we may not get many happy outcomes but we are thankful we can help end an animal’s suffering, by helping them over the Rainbow Bridge when needed.
Early Sunday morning mum (Michele) flies to South Korea for a week. My representative travel bears Teddy Rupert and GoGo are dressed in their backpacks, ready to go too. They’ll be covering the fun stuff.
Mum ‘s going to Korea to fight for dogs and cats caught in a very horrible situation. If you want to read more: click here.
When Thankful Thursday posts next week, it’ll be from Korea! *worried face*
