Welcome to our blog hop. Our Thankful Thursday pals at Manx Mnews are organising a special day that we can all join it to help. Angel Abby’s mom says: “Angel Abby’s birthday is July 1st and I’m going to be having a ‘commentathon’ to benefit a special animal rescue group. Each comment is going to add .50 cents towards a donation I will be making.
What a great idea! I’m posting Abby’s COMMENTATHON message early so our typists can start doing finger exercises to get ready to punch out comments on the special day. Next week I’ll have the name of the rescue shelter and I’ll post a reminder.
On Tuesday we had a three hour very difficult rescue of a young Water Hen with a severely fractured her leg, up in her shoulder area. As ‘she’ (Michele) went to capture the water hen, the hen jumped into the lake, which was a bigger problem because the hen couldn’t use her injured leg to swim and it also couldn’t get out of the lake because she needed both legs to jump up onto the bank
Two hours later ‘she’ still did not have the bird captured, so we called in the wild bird expert, Rowley. who runs Wild Bird Rescues Gold Coast. Rowley specialises in rescuing large birds of flight such as Swans and Pelicans. Another hour later (now 3 hours), we had the injured Water Hen contained. I was SO THANKFUL to Rowley and was then able to take the bird to the animal hospital.
As an RSPCA Rescuer I get a number of rescue calls each week. I’m thankful to a kind stranger who phoned in about a Ringtail Possum in distress who I was able to rescue and take to the Emergency Animal Hospital. I won’t show her photo here, but you can see her photo on our facebook page. This possum was in bad shape but thankfully the phone call meant we could locate her and help her.
What are you thankful for this week? I’ll be zooming from blog to blog today and tomorrow because I’m behind in visiting your websites, which I apologise for. It’s been a hectic week. As usual, I always recommend zooming from site to site because every pal has great things on their websites. Can’t wait to read what you all up to! Remember to let me know if you’d like anything included at any time. :=o)
What a wonderful story of rescue, and wonderful photos … and what a great guy he is, doing what he does! Thanks for sharing this story.
That is such a great story and we sure are glad the nice humans are helping!
It must make all of you feel good when a rescue is accomplished. Good job on both.
Oh we love rescues!! Have a wonderful Thankful Thursday!!
Your TX furiend,
Samantha
What wonderful things to be thankful for and THANK YOU for mentioning my upcoming commentathon to celebrate my Abby’s 15th purrday. Her first at the Bridge.
We are just so thankful that you do what you do. And we know for sure the animals you save are thankful, too. Hugs!
